Abortion Linked With Cerebral Palsy

A new study that was recently published in November's issue of Journal of Reproductive Medicine found a link between abortion and cerebral palsy.

Physicians in Canada and the U.S. joined together to conduct the study, which analyzed data from more than four million births.

Study Explores Pregnancy

Dr. Byron Calhoun, the Professor and Vice Chair of Obstetrics and Gynecology at West Virginia University, claims that about one-third of babies who are considered to be “very pre-term” are the result of the mother's previous decision to have an abortion.

Through the study, the researchers found that babies who spend less than 32 weeks in the womb are likely to suffer from low body weight.

Of the 32 percent of babies who have a very low body weight, an estimated eight percent are likely to be born with cerebral palsy.

The Harmful Affects of Abortion

“For years, we have warned that abortion harms women, and children, and now researchers are certifying that victims' future siblings are at greater risk for having lifelong disease,” explained Tony Perkins, the president of the Family Research Council.

Another study conducted by Vladimir Serov, the deputy director of the Russian Obstetrics Gynecology Center at the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, found similar results.

Serov says he found numerous cases of women who suffer from sterility, endometriosis and other complications after having an abortion.
