The Murdoch Children's Research Institute (MCRI) will soon report on the findings of a world-first eight-year trial on using Botox as a cerebral palsy treatment.
Doctors are optimistic about the progress in some cerebral palsy patients receiving Botox injections - a drug derived from a toxin that causes botulism and is known for its cosmetic ability to smooth out lines and wrinkles on the face.
According to orthopedic surgeon and supervisor of a cerebral palsy patient receiving Botox injections as part of the four-year trial at Melbourne's Royal Children's Hospital, Kerr Graham - which conducted the research jointly with the MCRI - the regular Botox injections has prevented his cerebral palsy patient's muscles from shortening.
Do you know someone being treated for cerebral palsy? If so, contact a cerebral palsy lawyer to find out if a cerebral palsy patient is entitled to compensation for the cost of treatment.
