Online Communication Helps Strengthen Bonds

A program that enables those with disabilities to interact with one another is available through the Partners for Youth with Disabilities Organization.

Two patients who will soon benefit from the communication program are Gregory Walsh and Austin Lam, two friends living with cerebral palsy who have formed a valuable friendship in the past couple of years.

Organization for the Disabled

Walsh is a 28-year-old adult with cerebral palsy and Lam is 13-years-old who has the same disability.

Both patients have been able to help one another with the daily struggles and challenges that they both face through the Partners for Youth with Disabilities Organization.

The organization was started four years ago and helps to match at least 80 new mentorship pairs annually between disabled adults and youths in America.

Internet Provides Way for Communication

The online communication program that has been set up by the organization enables patients to communicate with each other through email and online chat forums.

“It’s going to open up a whole new area for Gregory and Austin,” says Janice Walsh, Gregory’s mother. “It will reinforce their relationship. They’ll become even better friends than they are now.”
