The Cerebral Palsy K.I.D.S. (Kentuckiana Institute of Developmental Services) Center greatly exceeded its goal to get about 200 participants to help raise money to pay for cerebral palsy services granted to families at the center, instead attracting about 700 people.
The event raised more than $70,000 for the center on the Kosair Charities campus. Providing outpatient therapy and family support for children with cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, spina bifida, autism and other developmental disabilities, the money will help the 70 percent of families that require some assistance.
About one-third of the families are indigent, according to the executive director of the center, and weekly therapy visits can cost between $50 and $200.
If your child has cerebral palsy, contact a qualified cerebral palsy lawyer who can provide legal assistance and help you obtain compensation to pay for your child's treatment plan.
