$3.7M Award Given to Family in Indianapolis

A jury in Marion County recently awarded $3.7 million to a family after complications occurred with the birth of their daughter.

The couple received the award from St. Vincent Hospital.

Dr. Sally Bradley and the Women’s Partnership were also named as defendants in the suit.

Birth Goes Wrong at Hospital

According to reports, when Robin Lynch arrived at St. Vincent’s hospital she was at full-term in her pregnancy and was bleeding heavily.

“The fetal monitor strip was missing and we have no idea what was going on with the baby during this time,” said David Lynch.

An hour later, their daughter Shelby was born and supposedly went without a heartbeat for her first 14 minutes.

As a result, Shelby now has cerebral palsy, along with physical and developmental delays.

Hospital Held Responsible

The Lynch’s won the suit after the jury found the hospital and their doctor to be at fault for Shelby’s disabilities.

The money will reportedly be placed in a trust to care for the little girl who now faces a lifetime of special needs.
