UCP Releases Medicaid Rankings

United Cerebral Palsy (UCP) recently released Medicaid rankings for those living with the disability in America.

According to their findings, people with cerebral palsy and other disabilities are not getting the support they need in some states.

Rankings in the U.S.

The Medicaid rankings released, also known as the Case for Inclusion 2008, covers all 50 states, including the District of Columbia.

Arizona is at the top of the ranking with Vermont following close behind and Texas at the bottom of the list.

“Every American wants the opportunity to live and work in their community,” says Stephen Bennet, President of the UCP. “The top performing states in our rankings do a better job promoting independence and productivity in safe, quality community settings.”

Other Findings

Research also found the following information on cerebral palsy in the U.S.:

  • More people with cerebral palsy are leaving large institutions and living at home
  • 39 states support going to work and maintaining their Medicaid benefit through the Buy-In program
  • 15 states report having support programs set up for those with cerebral palsy and their families
