The Cerebral Palsy Association in collaboration with Ronald McDonald House Charities recently opened a multi-sensory room to help individuals with cerebral palsy and other neurological impairment with sensory development.
Multi-sensory rooms for cerebral palsy therapy have been proven to improve sensory skills such as hearing, sight, taste, smell, touch, hand-eye coordination, and language development among other things.
The room is one of a number in Canada designed by Ron Forrest, who said, “Give them the right tools and they will interact. It's an amazing transformation.”
According to Suzanne Daley, manager of communications and marketing at CPA, the room took over a year to build due to lack of funding. Ronald McDonald House provided the organization with the funds necessary to complete the project.
It seems the finished product was worth the wait. “The multi-sensory room is a little mini-Disneyland without the rides,” she said. “It's fabulous.”
If your child has cerebral palsy, contact a cerebral palsy attorney who can help determine if your child is eligible for financial help to cover therapy expenses.
