$23M Settlement Reached in Cerebral Palsy Case

A $23 million settlement was reached in the suit filed by the Jordan family against the West Penn Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA, just settled in their suit against West Penn Hospital.

The settlement reached is one of the largest medical malpractice awards in Pennsylvania.

Lawsuit Details

When Pamela Jordan began giving birth at the West Penn hospital, the fetal heart rate monitor showed that Grady was already experiencing heart complications.

However, according to reports, the doctors at West Penn continued to proceed with the labor.

Jordan’s baby boy was delivered with no heart rate, appearing pale, according to court documents.

Jordan and her husband claim that no specialist came to resuscitate Grady for over 10 minutes.

A Life Changed

The Jordan’s allege that due to the hospital’s failure to detect the problems earlier on in the delivery, their son Grady now has cerebral palsy and his life has been forever changed.

Grady will not be able to walk, talk properly or take care of himself at any point in his life and the Jordan’s, along with the jury, believe that West Penn Hospital is to blame for the outcome of the boy’s life.
