$10.35M Settlement Reached in Suit Against Officer

A settlement was recently reached in the suit against a police officer from Waynesboro, VA.

The suit was filed by the husband of a previous animal control officer who worked in the same department.

Suit Filed by Father of Child with CP

The suit was filed by Keith Holley Jr., on behalf of his former wife, Karla Holley, who claims her unborn baby suffered from brain damage and is now living with cerebral palsy due to a 2003 car accident.

Holley states that a cruiser driven by Officer Jim Short struck Karla and threw her to the ground while she was 32 weeks pregnant.

Holley was reportedly knocked on the ground, face first, and suffered many cuts and bruises to her entire body.

Her unborn child also is recorded has having suffered from a crushed skull and crushed brain.

Doctors Testify

Holley’s suit reportedly listed several doctors who were willing to testify that the fall Karla took affected the baby’s health.

As a result of the accident, the baby suffers from cerebral palsy, seizures, and emotional and behavioral problems, says the suit.
