The parents of a little girl who was born with cerebral palsy have filed a suit claiming that the hospital and doctor involved in her birth are to blame for the disability.
Middle Tennessee Medical Center, Murfreesboro Medical Clinic and the doctor involved in the delivery are all named as defendants in the suit.
Delivery Mistakes Effect Future of Child
The Taylors filed the lawsuit claiming that the night their daughter, Hannah, was born, Dr. Lynn Ellington used the wrong instruments to assist with the delivery.
The instruments used are believed to be part of the reason that Hannah now has the disabilities that she does today.
The surgical technician and nurse on duty at the time are also accused of failing to follow Ellington’s instructions during the delivery, which also contributed to the birth defects.
Hospital Relationships Play Role
According to the suit, MTMC was aware at the time of Hannah’s delivery that Malone was engaged in a relationship with another doctor at the facility.
The medical center reported that their relationship was affecting employee morale and patient care.
Child Disabled
As a result of this series of mistakes and wrong decisions the hospital and doctors are accused of, Hannah now suffers from severe brain damage, seizures and developmental delays.
Hannah, who is now eight-years-old, reportedly doesn’t speak and feels pain when people walk past her.
