Plan Introduced to States by the UCP to Help Those with Disabilities

A plan recently introduced by United Cerebral Palsy (UCP), aims to help state officials in the U.S. better understand the necessary steps that can be taken to benefit those with cerebral palsy.

UCP is one of the nation’s top health charities and The Plan for Inclusion is meant to serve as a roadmap to help improve state-level Medicaid services for Americans living with developmental disabilities.

State Statistics

In accordance with the plan, a ranking of how the states compared, in their services and treatments available for cerebral palsy patients, was released.

Arizona was ranked as the number one state in America that catered to those with disabilities, while Mississippi was at the bottom of the list. California was ranked as number five while Texas was number 50.

What Will the Plan Do?

The Plan for Inclusion provides suggestions and statistics so each state has help in facing challenges they may have regarding citizens with disabilities.

"The rankings and analysis we’ve done reveal a wide variance in how well states are providing community-based supports to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, with every state showing need for improvement," said Stephen Bennett, the President and CEO of United Cerebral Palsy. The Plan for Inclusion puts forth proven policies and strategies that lawmakers and advocates can use to create meaningful change in their states."
