Cerebral Palsy Settlement Reached in UK

Dudley Group of Hospitals NHS Trust recently reached a settlement after being involved in a 12-year battle with the family of a girl diagnosed with cerebral palsy. The suit claims that 14-year-old, Leanne Boden, developed cerebral palsy as a result of “delays during her birth at Wordsley Hospital.”

Mother, Paula Borden, filed the cerebral palsy lawsuit on behalf of her daughter shortly after she was diagnosed with cerebral palsy. She said the money will ensure Leanne receives the best possible medical care for the rest of her life. “I am relieved this is all over,” Paula said. “We have been waiting and waiting.”

Cerebral Palsy Requires Leanne to have 24-Hour Care

The affects of Leanne’s cerebral palsy makes it impossible for her to care for herself. According to Paula, Leanne is extremely weak and can barely move on her own. She added that Leanne cannot leave the house unless a family member or caregiver is with her.

The money awarded to Leanne will allow her to have the best medical care 24-hours/ day, which in turn, will give her a higher quality of life. “It means an awful lot to us because we know Leanne will be looked after,” said Paula. “We want her to have the best care available.”

The attorney who handled the case for Leanne and her family noted that cerebral palsy cases like these can be extremely stressful for the victims and their families suffering from conditions such as cerebral palsy, especially when the defendants are reluctant to admit responsibility.
