Applied Sciences Group Inc. (ASG) recently announced that they would be partnering with Talker Inc., to market and distribute a new communications device used to help those with cerebral palsy.
The product is said to help restore the independence of children who have difficulties with their speech and motor abilities due to autism or cerebral palsy.
How Will the Software be Beneficial?
The communication software and accompanying device will reportedly be a modified computer that has a synthetic voice and touch screen.
According to Kim Grant, the business development manager at ASG, the device will enable the company to continue its relationship with the increasing popularity of the sciences and biotech market.
“We wanted to compliment our engineering services offerings with a medical device product that will allow us to ride the economic wave occurring in the marketplace,” explains Grant.
What Makes the Product Different?
Something that makes the Talker different than other speech devices that are currently on the market is the fact that it includes phrase prediction and recognizes frequently used words.
ASG is also working to find other applications for the Talker, such as teaching children to learn to speak English.
Grant says that the product is already being used by adult stroke victims.
